Archie always looked and acted much younger than his years. He was an avid golfer and a member for many years at Ramsey Golf Club. Over the years he enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a keen interest in everything from stock car racing to bowling, snowmobiling, carpentry and home remodeling projects. He loved to dance and prided himself on his smooth ability to glide across the ballroom floor. He spent most of his life always on the go and the days never seemed long enough to do all the things he wanted. He loved to talk and tell endless stories about all the things he experienced in his lifetime. He was an amazing father and grandfather and he loved spoiling his grandchildren.

Survivors include a son Edward (Joanie) Hanson, Onalaska, Wisconsin; a daughter Cynthia (Micheal Knoche) Hanson, Minneapolis, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Jeff (Shana) Hanson, Wendy (Jerry Cramer) Hanson, Craig (Margi) Hanson, Michael (Rachel) Anselmo and Antonio (April) Anselmo; and six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley Saaranen. In his final years he developed a special relationship with his nephew Tim (Heather) Saaranen who stopped by to visit and check on him every day.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Edith; brothers: John and Harry; sisters: Millie Saaranen, Katie Burgess and Hen Greenameyer.

Visitation will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, St. Augustine Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, St. Augustine Church with Fr. Jim Steffes officiating. Casket bearers will be Jeff Hanson, Craig Hanson, Mike Anselmo, Tony Anselmo, Tim Saaranen and Fred Saaranen. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Mayer Funeral Home is entrusted with Archie’s arrangements. Online Condolences- www.mayerfh.com.
