LP boys kick off season with win

The Lyle-Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team kicked off their season Friday night with a 69-38 win over Glenville-Emmons in Glenville.

The Athletics got a 26-point effort from Noah Jiskra with Braden Kocer putting in 15 points and Jordan Cotter scoring 12 points.

“We played pretty well for our first game,” first-year head coach Scott Koenigs said. “

LP surged in the tail end of the first half, breaking open a close game. They held a 42-25 lead at the break.

LP struggled at the free-throw line, though down the stretch they were able improve, ending the night with a 21 for 37 effort.

“We attacked the rim like we wanted, we just didn’t get it done at the free-throw line,” Koenigs said.

LP will host Schaeffer Academy at 7:15 Tuesday at Pacelli.
