Letter: Many good people still call Austin home

Today while waiting at the bus stop, I had a man walk over to tell me that my right side passenger tire was almost flat. I didn’t walk by that side of my car and had no idea it was low.

I went to the gas station and was waiting for the person who was inflating her tire to finish. I told her how lucky I was to have someone tell me my tire was flat because I had been intending to drive it after the bus stop.

She had a big smile on her face and said that she’d been flagged down at a stoplight by someone who told her that her rear tire was flat!

It may not seem like a big deal, but it really was for both of us. First of all, our tires weren’t ruined by driving further on them. But maybe more importantly, two people took the time in the crazy morning traffic jam of everyone driving to schools and jobs to tell us about our tires.

With so much bad news about break-ins, robberies and assaults, I wanted to remind people that we do still have good people here in Austin. A lot of good people.
