“I was pleased with how they came back in game three,” LP head coach Lauren Cost said. “I just wish it would’ve been a little sooner.”

The Cougars (2-0 overall, 2-0 SEC) are a perennial SEC power and they certainly gave the Athletics a lot to deal with on Tuesday. Cost said she hopes her team can learn from playing such a tough match.

“They’re a very good squad,” Cost said of MC. “They run quicks that we don’t run, so we can’t practice against that yet. We learned a lot in this game. We see the holes and we see what we need to work on.”

LP stats: Lucy Nelson, 6 kills; Bethany Strouf, 4 kills; Courtney Walter, 14 set assists; Sarah Holtz, 12 digs; Brooke Walter, 6 digs; Faith King, 5 digs
