An Austin business is continuing its push to help its employees be healthy.

Austin’s Cooperative Response Center (CRC) kicked off its annual employee health and wellness fair Tuesday. The three-day wellness fair helps educate employees through a variety of seminars and classes.

CRC has been promoting health efforts for several years and is a past winner of Mower Refreshed Business of the Year, and she said the efforts are catching on and have become popular with employees.

“People are so much more educated and more aware,” Vice President Nancy Morrison said. “They’re asking better question, they’re making better choices.”

The fair itself has grown from one day to three, and employees have the opportunity to get flu shots, hearing tests, body mass index testing, giveaways, massages, and they could listen to speakers about depression in the workplace, identity theft, preparations of wills/trusts, and much more at no cost to the employee.

CRC also featured yoga, cross fit, zoomba and martial arts classes, along with various demonstrations on foot health, office posture, domestic violence, brain health/potential and cooking.

After several years of health fairs and efforts, Morrison said they’re beginning to see the benefits of healthier employees.

“We’re just starting to see the beginning effects of that,” Morrison said.

Along with the annual wellness fair, CRC has several health and wellness challenges and efforts throughout the year.

CRC has it’s main office in Austin, along with other locations in Abilene, Texas, and Dunlap, Tennessee.

All of the offices participate in similar health and wellness fairs. CRC has about 250 employees, with about 135 in Austin.
