Russell Lee Butler, 70, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Aug. 24, 2015.

Russ was born July 31, 1945, in Austin, to William and Esther Butler. He married Nancy Eirich on April 8, 1977. Russ spent most of his youth in Minnesota. As a young adult he moved to California and ultimately settled in Arizona. Russell attended Austin High School and spent most his adult life as a computer programmer. He really enjoyed attending car races, outdoor activities, Broadway theater and time with his family. Let’s not forget his naps.

Russ was preceeded in death by his three brothers: Arbor, Leonard and William Butler; and three sisters: Dorothy Butler, Lorraine Nelson and Virginia Butler.

Russ is survived by his wife Nancy of 38 years; along with three sisters: Garnet Butler, Margaret (Margie) Bretz and Maureece Butler; one brother, James (Jim) Butler; two daughters: Tammy Mazariego and Savanna Amend; one son, Brian Butler; and eight grand-children.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. with the service following at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Alleluia Lutheran Church, 8444 W Encanto, Phoenix AZ 85037. Flowers will be coordinated and can be purchased through Eastlake Mortuary, 602-253-4105.
