Rebel football team opens with a win over Saint Clair

The Southland football team opened the season with a bang and they went on to beat Saint Clair 28-7 in Adams Saturday.

Sophomore Jared Landherr took the opening kick-off back 87 yards for a score and James Landherr threw three touchdowns to Josh Anderson as the Rebels (1-0 overall) rolled to victory. Southland did have four turnovers, but they were still able to win comfortably.

James Landherr was 17-for-22 and he threw for 198 yards on a windy day in Adams.

“We had a lot of mistakes, but to throw for 198 yards in this kind of wind was impressive,” Southland head coach Shawn Kennedy said. “The offensive line did an amazing job of pass protection.”

Jackson Koenigs had 17 tackles in the win for Southland.
