Sit down for a nice, relaxing weekend of knitting, food and tractors. With a steam show, a festival in Brownsdale and learning new crafts, there’s sure to be something for everyone this weekend.

1. Intermediate Knitting

2. Brownsdale Fire Department Brownsdale Fest

3. Brownsdale Fire Dept. Fireman’s Breakfast

8 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Brownsdale Fire Station

Fill up your stomach at this great-tasting event. This breakfast is a free will donation. There will be French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, and coffee or milk.

4. Introduction to Press Molds

1-3 p.m., Saturday, Austin ArtWorks Center

5. 20th Annual Cedar Valley Memories Power Show

7 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Cedar Valley Memories, 18793 Hwy. 9, Osage, Iowa

This event demonstrates Iowa’s heritage with operating steam engines, tractors, gas engines, threshing, plowing, an active saw mill, craftsmen and domestic arts demonstrations, music and more. The flea market will be open both days. Saturday will host a tractor pull at 1 p.m., and Sunday will host a cowboy church at 9 a.m. and a kid’s pedal pull at 1 p.m. A rare 1912 Reeves 40-140 Cross Compound Engine will pull a 1910 John Deere 14-bottom lever-lift plow at 2 p.m. both days. An omelet breakfast and lunch will be on the grounds, and people can purchase a $5 button that is good for both days. Children 12 and under are free. The event will feature CASE steam engines, tractors, equipment and “Old Abe” eagles, and exhibitors are welcome. This is a Mitchell County Historical Society event.
