ST. PAUL — St. Paul police have arrested a 34-year-old woman in the stabbing death of her boyfriend.

Officers were called about a possible break-in at a house around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Police arrived and found 30-year-old Obinna Udo Nwankpa of St. Paul lying on the basement steps with an apparent stab wound to his chest.

He was pronounced dead at Regions Hospital. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports a knife was recovered at the scene.

Police questioned a woman who lived at the home and who was identified by authorities as the man’s girlfriend. She was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of murder.

A police spokesman says police have responded to domestic disturbance calls at the house in the past.
