Motorists on Highway 105 south of Austin will encounter a detour beginning July 13 as the Minnesota Department of Transportation replaces 10 culverts.

Highway 105 will be closed at the intersection of Mower County Road 28 and south. Southbound motorists can use the detour route of Interstate 90 east to Highway 218 south to Mower County Road 5 west, where it connects with Highway 105. The northbound detour is the route in reverse.

The remaining stretch of Highway 105 to the Iowa border will be closed after the northern segment is complete. Motorists are asked to use local routes when this short segment is closed.

Highway 65 road construction begins July 6 in Albert Lea

Motorists will encounter road construction on Highway 65 in Albert Lea beginning July 6, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The $5.3 million project will remove a portion of the pavement and replace it with new pavement. Ulland Bros. of Albert Lea is the prime contractor.

Construction is expected to be completed in early October. The resurfacing project will also include replacement of the sidewalk and driveway approaches within the project limits, guardrail replacements, storm sewer and culvert repairs and sidewalk improvements. Brick pavers, trees, tree grates and decorative street lighting are part of the project from Front Street to Main Street.

The project on Highway 65 runs from Highway 13 south to a half mile past Interstate 35.
