MANKATO — Two people were hurt when a helicopter was accidentally powered up at Mankato’s weekend air show.

Authorities say the two suffered minor injuries when a sun shade structure tipped over as the Mayo Clinic helicopter started. The chopper was quickly shut down by its operators.

Thousands gathered for the Minnesota Air Spectacular at the Mankato Regional Airport. The Free Press says one person was taken to the hospital with heat exhaustion and about a dozen others were treated at the airport for heat-related ailments.
