Richard W. Youngmark, 68, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, May 3, 2015, at his sister’s residence in Urbandale, Iowa.

He was born March 10, 1947, in Van Nuys, California, to Walter and Ione (Osland) Youngmark. Richard attended Austin Public Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964, serving in the Vietnam War as an air traffic controller until his honorable discharge in 1967. On Feb. 20, 1974, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Terry in Reno, Nevada. To this union five daughters were born. Richard traveled the country as a concession stand owner with various amusement companies, including Butler Amusements, Candyland Amusements, and Pride of Texas Shows. He was a member of the Showmen’s Association. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed reading, playing poker, golfing and visiting various casinos.

Richard is survived by his wife Ruth Ann of Cleveland, Texas; his daughters Deanna (Ted) Scott of Dayton, Texas, Lora Youngmark of Austin, Minnesota, Mary Youngmark and Christine Youngmark, both of Cleveland, Texas; 16 grandchildren; four sisters Linda Youngmark of Urbandale, Iowa, Donna (Dave) Becker of Rushford, Minnesota, Peggy Youngmark of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Pam (Tim) Wagner of Austin, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ione Youngmark, his daughter Valerie in 1979, and two brothers Arden and Ron.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Worlein Funeral Chapel in Austin with Chaplain Forrest Miller officiating. There will be no visitation or reviewal. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
