“We had some pretty good at bats,” Austin head coach Al Eckmann said. “We really did. We got on base. I thought we might’ve played the best game we’ve played all year and I”m really proud of them.”

The Huskies (9-6 overall) took the lead for good in the top of the seventh when they came up with two straight hits and had the go-ahead run score on an error.

The Packers will open the Section 1AAA tournament next Wednesday, which gives them plenty of time to prepare for the postseason.

“We’re going to practice really hard for a few days. We’re going to work on some things that we haven’t been able to work on. I’ve got a whole list of things that we need to improve on,” Eckmann said. “As long as we keep getting better, we’re going to get there.”
