The No. 5 seeded Lyle-Pacelli baseball team kept its season alive behind two big performances from two of its seniors in a 3-2 win at No. 4 Randolph (10-7 overall) in a Section 1A West quarterfinal game Friday.

Jordan Hart hit his second home run of the game to drive in the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning for LP (15-4 overall) and Daniel Bollingberg allowed just one hit in the last six innings of the game.

Hart also hit a two-run homer on an 0-2 pitch to put LP up 2-0 in the top of the first, but the Rockets bounced back with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first.

LP head coach Brock Meyer said LP certainly received a boost from Hart and Bollingberg, who struck out 11 in seven innings.

“[After the first], Daniel was un-hittable for the most part,” Meyer said. “Those two have been around for awhile and they’ve been able to step up in big games.”

LP will play No. 8 seeded Goodhue (5-18 overall) in the Section 1A West semifinals in Riverland 10 a.m. Saturday.

It’s been at least since 2005 that LP has gotten into the Section 1A West finals.
