The Twins organization has partnered with Boulder, Colo.-based Eco-Products to replace its plastic beer cups, nacho trays, straws and other packaging with alternatives made out of compostable materials, the team announced Wednesday. The Twins started rolling out the products at the beginning of this season.

Fans can now deposit food packaging and utensils along with leftover food into compost bins.

The team expects this new initiative to further improve the ballpark’s 2014 waste diversion rate of 73 percent.

tIt will continue to recycle plastic bottles and aluminum containers.

Much of the new packaging will be produced using a material called Ingeo, manufactured in Minnetonka by NatureWorks.
