Yeadon

Florence L. Yeadon, 93, of Austin, Minnesota, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at The Cedars of Austin.

Florence was born July 6, 1921, in Austin, Minnesota, to John and Vesta (Munson) Buhs. When she was three weeks old, her family moved to Dexter, Minnesota, and resided with her grandfather, Charles Buhs, who was widowed. She attended Dexter and Elkton Schools and the Dexter Methodist Church. Florence and Elven were married Jan. 1, 1942, at the Parsonage in Brownsdale and resided with her parents and grandfather during the years Elven was in the service and Florence helped care for her grandfather. When Elven returned, they spent one year of employment north of Dexter and the other years of his employment northwest of Austin. They later moved to The Cedars of Austin. They were very grateful for the many years of marriage and all the love given to them by their farm family – they especially loved all the little children and their growing-up years and they were all very precious to them.

Florence loved to read devotional books and spent many hours each day in meditation and prayers. She especially liked the old hymns she sang in Sunday school; her favorite hymn was “All the Way My Savior Leads Me.” She enjoyed visiting people at The Cedars, especially those that were confined to their rooms.

Elven and Florence attended First United Methodist Church and were grateful to them for their love and caring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Charles and his wife Mary; sister-in-law Esther; parents-in-law Laura and Fred Yeadon; and her precious husband of 66 years who left this earthly life on Feb. 26, 2008. She was very lonely since Elven’s passing and was looking forward to a great reunion with him and family and friends.

Florence is survived by her nieces; her farm family; and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Marilee Benson officiating. Interment will be at Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be at the mortuary for one hour before the service on Thursday.
