Donald L. Hodges, 82, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday evening, April 24, 2015, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Donald Lloyd Hodges was born March 10, 1933, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Ferrel L. and Frieda S. (Johnson) Hodges. He attended school in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1951. From 1953 to 1961, Donald served in the military, first with the Minnesota National Guard and then with the United States Army as a military policeman. On June 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ethel A. Baker in Dodge Center, Minnesota. They made their home in Dodge Center until moving to Austin in 1957. While living in Austin, Donald was employed by Mier — Wolf Furniture, Sears, Oak Park Mall and then REM — Woodvale in the maintenance department, retiring in November of 2000. After his retirement, Donald worked at Pickett Place Apartments until 2014. He was an active member of Crane Community Chapel. He enjoyed collecting coins, bowling, golf and riding his bike.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hodges of Austin; three children: Cathy (Neil) Tuttle of Orchard, Iowa, Edward (Cindy) Hodges of Jacksonville, Florida, and Susan Caballero of Austin; nine grandchildren: Chris Tuttle, Jennifer Preuser, Adeline Whitlock, Matt Hodges, Joshua Hodges, Alex Hodges, Ted Caballero, Lucinda Caballero and Anna Caballero; five great-grandchildren: Dylan Tuttle, Anjel Caballero, Liliana Caballero, Kelsi Scribner and Kyle Scribner; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Crane Community Chapel in Austin, Minnesota, with Pastor Dale Christianson, officiating. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery with flag presentation by American Legion Post No. 91.
