The Blossoms (1-1 overall, 1-1 Gopher), who scored 14 runs in the fourth, were hoping to show a little more consistency as they had just four hits combined in the other three innings and they committed three errors in the win. Blooming Prairie took a 1-0 lead when Bria Baldwin hit a sacrifice fly in the first and Elly Strunk, who picked up the win in the circle, had a two-out, two-run single to make it 5-0 BP in the second.

“I’d like them to show up and be ready to play,” BP head coach Ali Mach said. “I didn’t think we were crisp and we didn’t have the urgency we needed to have. I think we had a lot of silly mistakes that don’t need to be made. We weren’t very aggressive offensively and we didn’t play the type of softball I expected us to play.”

Baldwin, a sophomore, went 2-for-5 and she knocked in three runs, but she was a little concerned with some of the errors BP made.

“We need to be better defensively, but we got our bats going,” Baldwin said. “Coach Mach kind of got us pumped up [before the fourth inning].”

BP had 12 singles in the game and freshman Emma Christianson delivered the lone extra base hit when she doubled in two runs in the middle of a fourth inning rally that saw 19 players bat for BP.
