The 70-degree weather of last week just couldn’t last.

After warm spring weather Friday and Saturday, Austin has returned to cool, blustery conditions and the area could even see flurries later this week.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory through 6 p.m. today, as 25 to 30 mph winds with 40 mph gusts are expected.

The high winds are affecting a wide stretch of the upper Midwest, from Minnesota to western Pennsylvania, and gusts will reach 45 to 50 mph in spots.

The wind advisory is in effect for southern Minnesota, the northeastern half of Iowa, the northern halves of Illinois and Indiana, most of Ohio and the greater Pittsburgh area.

Forecasters say high winds can damage trees and power lines and dislodge unsecured objects. The wind can also make driving difficult, particularly with high-profile vehicles.

Breezy conditions should continue Wednesday when winds will be around 19 to 24 mph with 32 mph gusts.

After highs reached the 70s last week, Austin is in for a high temperatures in the mid-40s to mid-50s through the weekend. Lows will be in the lower 40s and 30s.

There is a slight chance of snow on Friday and Saturday.
