State wrestling: GMLOKS’s Richardson finishes third

Grand Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander-Kingsland-Southland senior Wyatt Richarson finished third in his weight class at the Minnesota state wrestling meet for the second straight year at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Saturday.

Richardson picked up a 4-2 win over Wyatt Juhl of Big Lake in the Class AA 195-pound third place match to finish his day. Richardson had to beat Jordan Tober of Mora 4-3 to get to the third place match.

Blake Benson of GMLOKS won his first match at state, but he lost 4-3 to Sam Anderson of Totino-Grace and he lost 7-4 to Brandon Knisley of New London-Spicer in the wrestlebacks.

In Class AAA wrestling, Austin senior Kole Igou lost his wrestleback match when he lost 7-2 to Jebah Doe of Maple Grove.

In Class A wrestling, Blooming Prairie’s Zach Nirk won his first match, but he lost 1-0 to Ian Morrison of Chatfield in the quarterfinals and he was pinned in the first period by Nick Fischer of Walker-Hack-Akeley-Nevis in the wrestlebacks.

Hayfield’s Dylan Arndt lost his first match in the wrestlebacks when he lost 19-2 to Nils Hagen of Osakis.
