Rebel baseball team opens with a win over PEM

The Southland baseball team played an error-free game as it opened its season with a 7-4 win at Plainview-Elgin-Millville (0-1 overall, 0-1 Three Rivers) Monday.

Jordan Heimer picked up the win on the mound for the Rebels (1-0 overall, 1-0 Three Rivers) as he struck out eight in five innings and he also knocked in a run. Josh Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Southland.

Southland didn’t commit an error in its second day outside of the spring and PEM committed five errors.

“We played decent defense and we made plays when we had to,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “They booted the ball around a little bit and we scored a few runs off it.
