Salvation Army officials received more than $5,200 and 805 pounds of food Tuesday from the Helping Hands volunteer committee at the Austin plant.

The Salvation Army called for donations earlier this month after an increased need at its food shelf over the past year. SA officials have served more than 400 households each month from June 2014 to January 2015, but served about 336 households in February.
