AHS music students participate in All-State ensemble

Austin High School’s music department was well represented at this year’s All-State music ensemble performances in Minneapolis on Feb. 12-14.

Trent Brown, Mary Sullivan, Paul Mueller and Grace Thoen were selected to the ACDA 9-10 State Honors Choirs which performed at Central Lutheran Church on Feb. 12. Arn Huizinga was an AHS trombonist who performed with the 9-10 State Jazz Band ensemble in Minneapolis on Feb. 13. At Orchestra Hall, Katie Maxa and Matthew Knoll sang with the All-State Choirs; Jacob Burkhart performed with All-State Band; Valentina Truong-Ferreira and Ben Walker played with the All-State Orchestra.  All of these students undertook a rigorous audition process and were selected among hundreds of applicants.
