GRAND MEADOW — A crazy new restaurant and bar is getting ready to open in Grand Meadow this month.

Crazy Jane’s Place will open in mid-March, according to owners Rodney and Jane Stuckey, and Mike Johnson.

“It’s crazy in a good way, crazy in a fun way,” Rodney said.

Rodney, a manager at Steve’s Pizza in Austin for almost 30 years, decided to open his own restaurant earlier this year when he and Johnson, his brother in law, bought the former Grumpy’s Bar building at 204 Fourth Ave. NE.

“It was just kind of one of those things that came together,” Rodney said.

The owners have some big plans for Crazy Jane’s. The family restaurant will be able to seat about 80 people and will feature a menu that includes sandwiches, chicken, Friday fish frys, steaks, and pizza, of course, with delivery.

Attached to the restaurant is a bar, where multiple TVs will feature sports throughout the week. The building will keep its live performance space, but Crazy Jane’s could feature a projection screen for big games in the future.

“We’re trying to make it more of a sports bar feel,” Johnson said.

Crazy Jane’s will also have off-sale liquor.

The owners have worked on the 9,000-square-foot building for the past five weeks and are preparing to open with a crew of 30 to 40 employees. Rodney said Crazy Jane’s plans to host banquets, class reunions, anniversaries, wedding parties and more once the place gets up and hopping.

“It should be a lot of fun,” Johnson said. “We’re excited to open soon.”

For Rodney, Crazy Jane’s is a bit more personal. He grew up in Grand Meadow and still lives a few miles away.

“It’s kind of coming home in a way, a little bit,” he said.
