A wide-reaching storm is expected to make for hazardous travel across much of Minnesota today.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Mower County — and much or the state — from 9 a.m. Tuesday through midnight ahead of a system expected to bring a mix of precipitation.

While the Twin Cities could see 2 to 4 inches of snow, the Mower County area will likely see a mix of up to two inches of snow and freezing drizzle, which is likely to make for slick road conditions. After the afternoon snow, drizzle is expected through much of the evening before the system moves out of the area overnight.

The heaviest snow is expected around noon, when some thunder is also possible with the system.
