The Austin Bruins rattled off another win to go 10-2 in their last 12 games in Riverside Arena Friday night, but the Bruins are still looking for things to improve on.

On Friday, the lesson was to learn to put teams away.

The Bruins beat Aberdeen (23-25-2 overall) 3-2, but head coach Chris Tok said the team didn’t show the same intensity as it did when it swept the Minnesota Wilderness last weekend.

“The bottom line is I don’t think we respected [tonight’s] opponent like we respected the Wilderness,” Tok said. “We don’t want to give them any hope that they think they can beat us. We’ve got to let them know if they play us it’s going to be hard and we didn’t do that tonight. That’s one of those things I don’t think our guys think about. They don’t look at the big picture.”

The Bruins (30-10-11 overall) took a 3-1 lead when Josh Wilkins scored late in the second period, but Austin didn’t exactly put the game away. The Wings pulled within 3-2 early in the third and they had plenty of shots at the equalizer before Austin was able to walk away with the win.

“Any team is going to keep you on your toes and they got some good opportunities,” Austin goalie Jake Kielly said. “Luckily I had my D and my forwards back to help me out.”

Austin defenseman Jake Arroyo is a veteran and he has played in the Robertson Cup Finals. He said the Bruins simply half to take care of the little things to play at a high level.

“Every team’s different. New guys come in and you’ve got to adjust to them. You’ve got to come together as a team and I think we’re doing that for the most part,” Arroyo said. “We’ve got to get back to going hard and keeping it simple.”
