Med City Mobility has room to grow.

The Austin store that serves handicapped and older residents has found big benefits to its new location off of Second Avenue Northeast, from a larger showroom to more space for supplies, service areas and more.

Med City Mobility’s new location features a much larger showroom and space all on one floor, which staff say is a huge improvement over the store’s old location.

“This space is great for us,” Manager Judy Kominek said.

Med City moved from 111 Third Ave. NE, near the downtown fire site, earlier this year after city of Austin officials worked out a deal to relocate the Spam Museum to downtown Austin. The move proved to be an opportunity for the store to improve.

Med City Mobility is using more space to feature many products, from larger beds and chairs to smaller, everyday aids shown here.

Med City’s current location opened in mid-September with a variety of advantages compared to its old store. Everything is on the same floor, which is different from the old store. At the Third Avenue Northeast location, Med City had to navigate several floors to retrieve products.

“You had to ride an elevator down to the basement to get to the service area,” Dale Pechacek, service technician said.

In addition, the new store has more room for supplies for the business to better supply customers.

Kominek said the added space is nice, but the new store’s location near several senior living areas and the Mower County Senior Center made it much easier for residents to come to Med City.

The store may further expand over the next few months as Med City grows in size. For Kominek and other Med City employees, that means a good opportunity to help more people.

“We’re really enjoying it here,” she said.
