James “Jim” Hovde, 60, of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.

James Duane Hovde was born Feb. 26, 1954, in LeRoy, Minnesota, to Norman and Madonna (Kiefer) Hovde. He was a 1972 graduate of LeRoy-Ostrander High School. On March 18, 1972, Jim was united in marriage to Pat Davis at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minnesota. Jim owned his own business, Hovde Trucking, and he loved talking on the CB radio to fellow truckers. Being a family man, Jim loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren taking them camping, hunting, fishing, and going on Sunday drives to wherever the vehicle would take them. He also enjoyed grilling and using his smoker, attending races at Deer Creek Speedway, cookbooks and “all recipes.com,” listening to the Twins games on the radio, working on small engines, and pheasant pictures.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pat of LeRoy, Minnesota; children: Sherry (Troy) Derry of Austin, Minnesota, Trish (Chad) Bundy of LeRoy, Minnesota, Carie (Chad) Eastvold of Austin, Minnesota, Jeffrey Hovde of LeRoy, Minnesota, and Justin Hovde of Austin, Minnesota; grandchildren: Taylor and Jordan Derry, Ashley and Olivia Bundy, and Riley and Karter Eastvold; siblings: Mary Jane (Jim) Theobold of Rochester, Minnesota, Diane Johnson of Houston, Minnesota, Tom (Barb) Hovde of LeRoy, Minnesota, and Kenneth (Tarry) Hovde of Dodge Center, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Les Storlie of Spring Grove, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Madonna; and sister, Cathy Storlie.

Funeral mass for James “Jim” Hovde will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minnesota, with Father Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at the church and one hour prior to the service.
