Sixth annual show to be held Sunday

Area couples are about to get a chance to sample the food, hear the music and see the formal attire for their big day.

The sixth Austin Wedding Showcase will be held at the Hormel Historic Home, 208 Fourth Ave. NW, from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $4 per person.

Each of the 27 exhibitors will offer a prize that attendees can win — more than $3,200 in prizes, according to Amanda Barber, the home’s operations manager and wedding coordinator.

“I think that’s pretty exciting,” she said.

About four caterers and a few bakers will give out free samples.

“It’s just nice that you get to sample an actual little meal,” Barber said.

The event also offers the chance for brides and grooms to meet other vendors like photographers, disc jockeys, makeup artists, hair stylists, decorators and florists.

“You want to meet those people ahead of time,” Barber said.

ViDeyo Arts Video Production Studio will also be on hand to showcase the business’s services, and multiple venue representatives will discuss receptions spots.

Belles and Beaus will again host its fashion show to highlight wedding dresses, mothers’ dresses and bridesmaids’ dresses. The Austin Bruins will again model the tuxedos.

“I’m really excited about it this year,” Barber said.

Guests will also receive complimentary champagne and the cash bar will be open too for the first time.
