Edwin Samuel Paul, 87, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Friday Jan. 23, 2015, at Twin Rivers Senior Campus, Cannon Falls, Minnesota.

Edwin was born July 7, 1927, in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, to Samuel and Anna (Werfel) Paul. Edwin attended Randolph schools before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving his country during World War II. In the late 1940s, Edwin came to Austin and began working at Hormel Foods Corporation, beginning a 42-year career, holding various positions in the annex and the cooler.  He retired in 1992. On Nov. 17, 1951, Edwin married Lorraine Maurek in Austin, Minnesota. Lorraine passed away in 2012.

Edwin was a wine maker, especially chokecherry wine. A member of American Legion, he enjoyed fishing, camping near Cannon Falls, and playing computer card games. He also enjoyed gardening and helping the neighbors with projects and yard work.

Edwin is survived by his son-in-law, Bruce Nagel of Rochester, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Jodi (Bob) Frohlich, Jill Nagel, Chad (Missy) Nagel; five great grandchildren, Cody, Beau, Tyler, Alaina and Spencer; several nieces and nephews; longtime friends, Virgil and Dar Qualle, Brenda Safe and Buffy Nerud of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, friend, Marilyn Cook of Cannon Falls.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Anna Paul; his wife, Lorraine Paul; daughter, Jeannette Nagel; five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. Dr. Stephen DeFor officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be a Calvary Cemetery, Austin. Memorials can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice. Services prearranged and conducted by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
