Bereavement group helps people cope

Published 6:03 pm Saturday, January 17, 2015

A five-week bereavement support group for those who have experienced a loss began Jan. 13, and continues through Feb. 10 at the Mower County Senior Center.

This education and support group will provide materials and discussions on a variety of topics to assist participants in their grieving process.

The group will meet weekly and will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a different presenter each week and will be followed by an informal lunch gathering for anyone interested. All who feel this might be beneficial to their healing are invited to attend.

Also, at 1 to 3 p.m. this Tuesday, the Cedars of Austin is hosting a Winter Heath Event at the Senior Center. Chef Jack is serving up healthy winter cooking demonstrations, free recipes, food samples and drawings for free lunch. Cathy Ehley will be there giving talks about how to exercise your brain.

There will be nursing staff giving free blood pressure checks, weigh-ins and healthy exercises you can do in your home. Please join us for these free events on Tuesday, at the Mower County Senior Center. Everyone is welcome.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are serving tuna noodle hotdish for only $2. You are always welcome at the center.
