Alumni Update: Wessels and Aase making impact at USF

BASKETBALL

Austin grad Zach Wessels made his second start of the season for the University of Sioux Falls when he logged in 33 minutes while scoring three points, dishing out six assists and committing just one turnover in an 80-77 win over Wayne State last Saturday. Austin grad Tom Aase started and played 15 minutes in that game for the Cougars (7-7 overall) and he had four points, four rebounds and three blocked shots.

Aase leads the Northern Sun Conference in blocked shots (23) and he’s averaging 3.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Wessels is averaging 2.1 points per game.

Austin grad Joe Aase has played in five of 13 games this season for Minnesota State University at Mankato (11-2 overall). Joe is averaging .8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Austin grad Ajuda Nywesh had seven points and six rebounds in Lake Region State College’s 90-75 loss to Williston State College Wednesday. Nywesh is averaging 12.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field 45 percent on 3-pointers and 74 percent on free throws for LRSC (13-5 overall).

Austin grad Bret Lukes has played two games this season for Hamline University and he has recorded one steal in two minutes of play.

Austin grad Goliath Oboyo has played in one game at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this season.

Hayfield grad Cole Kruger has played in five of 14 games for Upper Iowa (8-6 overall). Kruger is averaging 2 points and .8 rebounds per game on 4-of-8 shooting.

Lyle-Pacelli grad Ann Rysavy has played in five games at UW-Stout (4-9 overall) this season. Rysavy has played 29 minutes and has scored 3 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Southand grad Jana Schammel has started six games this season for Kaskaskia College, a Division I NJCAA school in Illinois. Schammel is averaging 6.4 points, 1.7 assists and 2 rebounds per game.

Grand Meadow grad Audra Durhman is averaging 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for RCTC (8-6 overall).

Hayfield grad Jessie Foster is averaging 6.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for RCTC.
