Shirley Ann Tapp, 84, of Rose Creek, Minnesota, passed away Saturday evening, Dec. 13, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, Methodist Campus.

She was born Nov. 8, 1930, in Kensett, Iowa, to Russell and Erma (Hill) Patterson. Shirley graduated from Austin High School in 1948. On Nov. 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Glenn D. Tapp at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Waltham, Minnesota. The couple raised five children. Shirley liked gardening, traveling, and quilting. She worked at Hormel Foods for many years and retired in 1986. Shirley raised laying-hens and fryers to sell at a convenience store that she and Glenn operated in Austin.

Shirley is survived by her children: Gary (Kathy) Tapp of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, Wanda (Kirk) Boyd of Lyle, Minnesota, Kevin Tapp of Osage, Minnesota, Gregory Tapp (Andrea Kicklighter) of Mulberry, Florida, Lisa Tapp (Jonathon Harte) of Rose Creek; seven grandchildren: Tina Lau, Meggan (Jason) Husby, Corey Mauer, April (Joe) Merta, Kendra (Kayvon) Behnam, Molly Boyd, Ben Boyd; 27 great-grandchildren: Jared Brantner, Kody Lau, Hailey Lau, Brooklyn Lau, Aleka Husby, Xavier Husby, Faustina Husby, Maximus Husby, Giana Husby, Evelyn Husby, Therese Husby, Chiara Husby, Fulton Husby, Zellie Husby, Nathaniel Merta, Marcus Merta, Emilia Merta, Gabriella Merta, Philip Merta, Anthony Merta, Mariana Behnam, Esabella Behnam, Lucia Behnam, Jonah Behnam, Kayvon-John Behnam, Sakya Boyd, Kayley Boyd, and two more due in February and May; a sister, Arlene Bakke of Arcadia, California, and a brother, Leonard (Tricia) Patterson of Okenville, Illinois; in-laws Gaylord (Erene) Tapp of Brownsdale, Leslie (Shirley) Tapp and Delmar Tapp, both of Dexter, and John Tapp of Owatonna; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Irma Patterson; her husband Glenn Tapp; and a granddaughter Bridget.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. David Hoot officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. immediately preceding the service. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Memorials can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
