Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team has 32-game regular season win streak snapped

The Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team pushed it to fastest pace it could find, but it came up short in a 90-89 loss at No. 5 ranked Marantha Christian (6-1 overall) Tuesday.

The No. 7 ranked Athletics (8-1 overall) had led by 14 points with 12 minutes left in the game, but they were hit with foul trouble late in the game.

Sarah Holtz had 28 points for LP, Brooke Walter had 27 points and Courtney Walter had 17 points and seven assists.

“It was a tremendous experience for our kids to play against a perennial power in a great atmosphere,” LP head coach Justin Morris said. “I’m really proud of our kids and it was a fantastic basketball game.”

Tuesday’s loss is the first regular season loss for LP since it lost 96-66 to Southland Feb. 14. The Athletics had won 32 straight regular season games before falling to MC.
