The Hayfield girls basketball team didn’t have its best offensive night, but it had enough to win the Cedar Mountain-Comfrey tournament in CMC Saturday.

The Vikings trailed by as many as nine points, but they finished with a 45-41 win.

Savanna Cordle had a put-back score to put the game away with 14 seconds left for Hayfield (7-2 overall).

“It was a slow, slow game and we didn’t shoot very well,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “We won because of our defense.”

Bhrett Zahnle scored 22 points for Hayfield one day after she scored a career-high 24 points. Zahnle and Hayfield’s Rachel Ausrud were selected to the all-tournament team.
