The Austin Bruins didn’t have a lot of scoring chances against Coulee Region and they didn’t cash on too many of the ones they did have. The result was a 4-1 loss for the Bruins in Riverside Arena Wednesday night.

Austin (17-8-8 overall) didn’t score its first goal until Luke Forfar nailed a put-back goal with 15:12 left in the game to make it 2-1, but the Chill (19-7-4 overall) responded with two straight goals to ice the game.

“Our heads our down because we expect to win every game and that’s good, because it took them awhile to believe they’re supposed to win every game. Now they’re pissed off and that’s a good thing,” Austin head coach Chris Tok said. “We got caught a couple of times being a little passive aggressive and they chipped pucks by us and created some two on ones.”

The Bruins looked to be headed for a tie game when they had a rebound chance shortly after Forfar’s goal, but nobody was there to knock the puck in. Instead, Coulee grabbed the puck and Aussie Miller scored on a breakaway to make it 3-1 on the other end of the ice an instant after Austin missed its scoring chance.

“There was a couple of times where we didn’t do what was necessary to score on their goalie,” Tok said. “There was a couple of times we didn’t get rebounds and we didn’t have guys diving to the net. Two of their goals came off of point blank chances for us where they turn around and score in ten seconds. That really takes your mojo away.”
