BIXBY — An Austin woman suffered non life-threatening injuries in a car crash on Highway 218 north of Blooming Prairie Tuesday morning that killed a 50-year-old Medford man.

According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, 31-year-old Alicia Westendorf was driving northbound near Bixby on Highway 218 when a 2000 Ford Focus going south, driven by Mark Smith, lost control and crossed the center line. Westendorf hit the Focus broadside on the passenger side.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The State Patrol said road conditions were icy at the time of the crash.
