A three-goal, third period wasn’t quite enough as Willmar held off the Austin girls hockey team in the Willmar Hockey Boosters’ Thanksgiving Classic Friday.

Down 5-2 entering the third period, Austin (4-2-1) got early goals from Chloe Summerfield and Madison Overby to cut the lead to 5-4. Willmar cushioned the lead with with a goal from Riley Schneider at the 8:37 mark, but the Packers made one final run when Brandi Myers scored with under a minute to play to cut it 6-5 where the game ended.

Summerfield and Overby each ended the night with two goals each.
