A woman was arrested for simple robbery of $3 in change early this morning.

According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, at about 12 a.m. this morning, a 35-year-old Austin woman came into the Maytag Laundromat and asked a 22-year-old Austin woman who was doing laundry for a cigarette. The victim did not have any cigarettes, so the suspect asked for money. The victim had $3 in change, which the suspect took. Frightening the victim, the suspect asked her if she had more money, and reportedly said, “Go to your car, check your car, I’m not playing around.”

The victim went to her car, locked herself inside and called police. After speaking with the victim who was still in her car, police arrested the suspect, who was still in the laundromat, and brought her to the Mower County Jail, where she was held for appropriate charges. Police recovered the $3 the suspect took.
