Slight changes in Mower County voting locations this year

Mower County is ready to vote on Nov. 4.

Residents should be aware of a few changes before heading to the polls next Tuesday, however. In Austin, voters in the first ward, first precinct will vote at Riverland Community College’s gymnasium lobby rather than the Austin Public Library. City Clerk Ann Kasel said the city changed the poll location to Riverland to accommodate more voters.

Some voters in the county have a few changes to look over as well. Residents in the cities of Sergeant and Taopi must turn in their ballots to the Mower County Auditor/Treasurer’s office, according to auditor/treasurer Doug Groh.

Those residents switched to a mail balloting this year, but recent residents who may have moved in within the last 45 days may not have received a mail ballot.

Voting in Austin is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 4.
