Herta Stigney, 87, of Austin, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, in Austin.

Herta was born in Berlin, Germany, on July 5, 1927. She was united in marriage to Donald Harold Stigney. Donald owned Stigney Music in Austin for several years. Herta enjoyed listening to classical music, watching classical movies, and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family and her dog Holly.

Herta and Donald had eight children: David Stigney (Cheryl), Lakefield, Minnesota, Gloria Stigney, Waseca, Minnesota, Linda Stigney, Albert Lea, Minnesota, Thomas Stigney (Eila), Columbia Heights, Minnesota, Connie Wachlin (Bill), Lake Mills, Iowa, Darlene Romero, Colorado Springs, Colarado, Terry Lamaack (Richard), Mapleview, Minnesota, and Donald J. Stigney Jr., Albert Lea, Minnesota. Herta is also survived by many grandchildren and great grand-children.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Steffes officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mayer Funeral Home and an hour prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Online Condolences- www.mayerfh.com.
