New finalist hales from Worthington

The city of Austin has its last finalist for the vacant city administrator position.

Craig Clark, city administrator in Worthington, will come to Austin Oct. 3 and 4 to interview for the job, according to city officials.

Clark earned his bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista College in Iowa with a double major in political science and history. He earned his master’s degree in public administration from Hamline University. Clark previously served as city administrator in Clayton, Wisconsin and held staff positions in the state House of Representatives and U.S. House of Representatives.

Clark joins Kandis Hanson and Steve Wilke as the other finalists for the job. Wilke has been the city manager of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, since 2000. Hanson is the city manager in Mound, Minnesota. She took that job in 2000.

The Austin City Council initially chose four finalists but couldn’t decide on the best candidate. Council members voted last week to bring in two more candidates who couldn’t make the initial interview dates. Of those two candidates, one declined the offer. In addition, one of the four initial candidates was removed from contention, and Andrew Morris withdrew his name from the running.
