Delorus “Dode” Ann Jacobs, 81

Delorus  “Dode” Jacobs, 81, of Albert Lea, died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at her home.

Delorus Ann Jacobs was born on March 3, 1933, the daughter of Paul and Mabel (Christenson) Guenther in Albert Lea. She attended and graduated from Alden High School and then attended Hamilton Business School. On April 19, 1952, Dode was united in marriage to George Jacobs in Owatonna, Minnesota. She was employed at Sterling Drug as the Office Manager. Dode enjoyed spending time with the “Hen Party” and the “Garfield Bunch” and working on Sudoku puzzles, doodling and coffee time. Her daily coffee time with Maxine Brown was always a favorite. She was a member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, George; children, Cathy Jacobs (Jack Short) of Valley Center, California, Tom (Kathy) Jacobs of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Bruce (Janell) Jacobs of Austin, Minnesota, and David Jacobs (Jade Chu) of Poway, California; grandchildren, Dustin (Heather) Jacobs, Krissy Jacobs and fiancé Tom Turnbull, Rhianna Jacobs and special friend Steve Watson, Tyler Jacobs, Jessica Short, Alice (Josh) Rico and Mimi Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Dana and Brock Jacobs, Morgan Turnbull and Jay and Harper Rico; brother, Richard (Elaine) Petersen; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Reedie.

Dode was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Paul Guenther; step-father, Chris Petersen; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Mary Guenther; step-brother, Bobby Petersen; grandchildren, Nathan Jacobs and Brittney Kristine; brothers-in-law, Mike Jacobs, John Jacobs, Casper Jacobs, Art Travnick; and sisters-in-law, Lucy Travnick and Nadine Jacobs.

Funeral services for Delorus will be held on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Father Timothy Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Burial will be at St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
