Best Bets: Some wine and superheroes can save your weekend

The weekend has a little something for everybody, from a run for Community Against Bullying as a superhero to an open mic. There is also a healthy dose of culture with a special wine-lovers event at Four Daughters Winery and an open mic opportunity at the Brickhouse to round out the night.

1. Third Annual Grape Stomp Festival

Starting at 5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday at Four Daughters Vineyard and Winery

Love wine? Like stomping on grapes? Then head east to Four Daughters and take part in this fun and intoxicating experience. Weekend events include a vineyard tour, special wine purchase opportunities, grape tasting, free viewing of “A Walk through The Clouds,” and a vertical tasting class.

2. Superhero 5K

8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Layafette Park

Dust your cape off and take a run for a good cause at the Superhero 5K. Money raised from this event goes to support Community Against Bullying and the Austin Police Officer Association. Cost is $25 per runner and $15 for children. You can register by going to the CAB Facebook page to download the form or by stopping by Wellness 1st Chiropractic.

3. Bruins kick off bash

10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the YMCA tennis court

Meet the 2014-15 Austin Bruins team at an event that will feature autographs and prizes, a chance to meet mascot Bruiser, a bounce house and an obstacle course. Coaches and players will discuss healthy habits, anti-bullying and will offer hockey skills stations. The event is free and open to the public.

4. Open Mic by the Fireplace

7 p.m. Saturday at the Brickhouse Coffee House

Take a break and listen to what others have to offer when the Brickhouse offers up this open mic opportunity. Hear readers, writers, musicians, poets and storytellers. 5. “Casablanca:” 2014 Movie Series

7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at The Paramount Theatre

Come on down to The Paramount Theatre for the movie classic “Casablanca” starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. View the movie that meets romance and intrigue and one of the most famous lines uttered in movies, “Here’s looking at you, kid.”
