Wayne I. Wincentsen, 64, of Hayfield, Minnesota, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at his home.

He was born Jan. 30, 1950, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, to Irving O. and Frances (Hybl) Wincentsen. Wayne grew up in Blooming Prairie and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1968. He was raised in the Lutheran faith, and made his living as a welder for most of his life. Wayne’s favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. He also drove stock car and especially enjoyed the time spent with his friends and family.

Wayne is survived by his son Eric (Monica) Wincentsen of Norway, Iowa; his daughter Michelle (Gerrod) Lurvey of Belle Plaine, Iowa; siblings Donna (Milward) Simonson of Hayfield, and Clarence (Sally) Wincentsen of St. Paul, Minnesota; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Irving and Frances Wincentsen; and a sister, Kay Graves.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, with Pastor Matthew Fennell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Blooming Prairie Cemetery. Memorials in Wayne’s memory can be directed to the Wincentsen family. Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
