Organizers will accept freewill donations for Alzheimers research during the three concerts set for this Saturday, at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., in honor of several Friends of the Nature Center who have succumbed to the disease.

“It’s out there and we all do get old and we never know what it might bring us, but certainly that disease is a devastating way to go,” Nature Center Executive Director Larry Dolphin said.

The Friends first put on a benefit a few years ago after former Pastor Don Deines died of Alzheimer’s. Another nature center volunteer, Lloyd Luhrmann, recently passed away of Alzheimer’s as well.

Dolphin said the Friends have put on a freewill donation show for the past four or five years not only to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s, but to remember people who have been affected by it.

“We want to celebrate their lives, but we also want to help them give back,” he said.

All proceeds will go to Mayo Clinic for Alzheimer’s research.
