Monico Fernandez Rangel, 64, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Monico was born in Durango, Mexico, on May 4, 1950, to Jorge Rangel and Rafaila Fernandez.

Early in his life he was a field worker picking watermelons. He enjoyed hard work and was good at it. Monico enjoyed bike riding. He would ride everywhere he could, rain or snow. Monico lived in Owatonna, Minnesota, up until four years ago when he moved to Austin.

Monico is survived by his mother Rafaila Rangel; sisters, Linda Rangel and Maria Rangel; brother, Rafael Rangel; nephews and nieces, Omar Rangel (Allison), Adrian Cantu, Ivan Rangel, Chris Rangel, Netza Banuelos, Rosa Banuelos, Jose Rangel, Antonio Rangel, Rosalba Rangel.

Private family services are being held. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
