ANOKA — An Anoka County judge has sentenced a 36-year-old man to 27 years in prison for abducting and raping a woman in Fridley after telling her he was a police officer.

Gideon Charles Arrington II of Brooklyn Center was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree criminal sexual assault in May. Judge Dyanna Street says aggravating factors such as the particular cruelty of the attack justified a sentence that exceeded state guidelines.

Arrington abducted the 32-year-old woman near Fridley City Hall in November after telling her he was a detective. He then handcuffed and blindfolded her and raped her repeatedly. The woman tells authorities he washed her body and clothes before freeing her.
