The Mower County Humane Society is getting a little more sustainable.

The humane society is getting a solar array with 144 panels set up to power its animal shelter, almost a year after MCHS volunteers moved into its current location on 22nd Street Southeast.

“It’s going to be great,” said Jane Roden, a volunteer with the humane society.

MCHS volunteers said donations from several anonymous residents helped the humane society purchase the solar array, which should be able to power the building. The array is currently being built and could wrap up within the next few weeks.
