Donald George King, 95, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin, Minnesota.

Donald was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Oakland Minnesota, the son of Arthur and Anna (Anderson Esterby) King. He attended school in Oakland and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Marlys Jochumsen on Aug. 9, 1940, at Bowling Green, Ohio. Don was a retired employee of the Hormel Foods Corporation, where he had worked for 40 years.

Donald was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and listening to sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marlys.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Gaffney, of St. Peter, Minnesota; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sonia King, of Austin; grandchildren, Jennifer Nestegard, of Santa Clarita, California; Joe (Seana) Nestegard, of Tucson, Arizona; Thomas (Kristina) King, of Roseville, Minnesota; and Matthew (Erin) King, of Austin; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Karen Behling officiating. Friends may greet the family from 1 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service.
